Tasting notes

This wine is bright ruby red in colour. On the nose, generous aromas of strawberries and raspberries stand out. It is vibrant and supple on the palate with elegant tannins, a delicately balanced acidity and a lovely fresh finish.

Vintage information

The 2022 vintage in the Alentejo began with a dry winter. Mild weather in spring provided good conditions for budbreak and flowering. Three heatwaves during the summer meant that meticulous attention to detail was required in the vineyards to help the vines withstand the heat and drought: careful canopy management, control of cover crops to prevent competition with the vines, selective irrigation, and green harvesting to reduce the vines’ load and prevent excessive stress. The harvest at Herdade do Peso began on 9th August and ended on 30th September and Luís Cabral de Almeida was delighted with the quality of the grapes. The smaller berries, due to the lack of water throughout the growing season, have produced wines with great concentration of flavour and structure.
